Papay Day 22 – The Peedie Boat

I spent some more time in the Kelp Store today and I spotted the ‘peedie boat’ coming back from a trip to the Holm. “Peedie” is a Scottish dialect word meaning “little”. As I took this photo, the Kirkwall plane flew into the airport. It was the first flight to run since Day 20 – but it was too late to help Mel who arrived by boat earlier today.

The Peedie Boat runs throughout the warmer parts of the year. I think the main trip offered is from the Old Quay to the Holm of Papay just across the water. It’s run by Jonathan Ford who is known as the Papay Ranger.
